Mild
Mild ale is a type of ale that originated in the UK and is characterised by a low volume of alcohol – usually 3.5% ABV or lower. The name “mild” was coined due to the low level of hopping when compared to standard “bitters” or pale ales and as such the flavour can be quite mellow. In the UK it is usually one of the lower cost ales available in the pub and it has associations with blue collar workers. In recent years it has lost some popularity and there are fewer mild being served. Time for a comeback?
Titanic Nautical Mild was a seasonal ale that was brewed by Titanic as part of the “Mild Month”, and it’s apparently only brewed in the month of May. It is a beer that is brewed using Fuggles and Goldings hops which is what gives it its dark malt colour. The beer pours a dark ruby colour with a thick creamy head and has a sweet, slightly fruity taste which also has an ever so slight burnt maltyness and mild carbonation.
